Alykes Beach, Paphos
Located in the town of Paphos itself, Alkyes Beach is a narrow sandy beach which benefits from a breakwater, allowing children to bathe safely with suitable supervision. Visitors may need to hire a sun bed and parasol as in the height of the summer months, there is limited escape from the heat of the Cyprus sunshine. due to its location, visitors can escape the heat by talking the short walk back into Paphos where they can enjoy a cool drink at anyone of a number of local bars, cafes and restaurants. At Alykes Beach, the narrow but soft sands are protected by a breakwaters that makes bathing safe for youngsters, while the afternoon onshore breezes in the summer keep their sunbathing parents nice and cool. You'll need to hire a sun lounger and parasol to keep the hot summer sun off, as there is little shade near the sands themselves. There are also rocky areas. Alkyes Beach has Blue Flag status, and the local council ensure the sands are clean and the water quality regularly monitored. Lifeguards are on duty between 11am and 5.30pm during the summer months.
